AUSTRALIA'S HOME OF OFFICIAL MERCHANDISE
Rage Against The Machine are known to be a political band, and have voiced their political opinions for many years. With songs like “Wake Up”, “Killing in the Name of,” “Bulls on Parade,” and “Take the Power Back” it's hard to see how some fans didn't realise they were political.

Rage Against The Machine are known to be a political band, and have voiced their political opinions for many years. With songs like “Wake Up”, “Killing in the Name of,” “Bulls on Parade,” and “Take the Power Back” it's hard to see how some fans didn't realise they were political.

A fan of RATM named Scott Castaneda tweeted at Tom Morello
“I used to be a fan until your political opinions came out. Music is my sanctuary and the last thing I want to hear is political BS when I’m listening to music,”

Not really sure how Castaneda didn't see how they were not political. They're one of the worlds most popular political bands. Morello responded to the tweet with “Scott!! What music of mine were you a fan of that DIDN’T contain “political BS”? I need to know so I can delete it from the catalog,”

This kicked off many more replies and there were lots of humorous responses and funny memes.

Such as:

"Take the Power Back is actually about recharging batteries."

"I too enjoy the band Rage Alongside The Machine"

"Deciding you're no longer a fan of Rage Against the Machine after 20 years for speaking politics is like being a bird lover all your life then deciding you don't like them anymore because they have feathers."

"What... machine did you think you were raging against? The busted up toaster? A faulty dryer? Did the printer run outta toner?"

In an interview with Detroit Metro Times Castaneda tried to explain the meaning of his tweet "I understand they've always been political, but it's getting worse and worse and worse," he said, adding he was "tired" of hearing "political stuff" from bands and that it "kills the mood."

Yeah, but they've always been political, Castaneda. They've always had a political 'Mood'.

Castaneda has now deleted his twitter account, maybe because Twitter has become too political. Maybe he can sit down relax and watch some apolitical Michael Moore documentaries.

This week Rage Against The Machine's music has bounced back in the BillBoard and iTunes Top Album charts. So I guess they'll make some money out of this situation.
