Noel Gallagher on Liam, Oasis and Keith Richards

Noel Gallagher is not shy of telling us his opinion. The last couple of weeks he's given us his opinions on Bono, selling the Oasis catalogue and how he told Keith Richards Liam Gallagher is worse than Mick Jagger.

Noel was speaking to Absolute Radio’s Andy Bush and Richie Firth, saying it's Bono's fault people don't like U2. He explains: “I get a bit frustrated when people are like ‘I don’t like U2. And I’m like no, what you are saying is you don’t like Bono.

He added “It’s like you’re not telling me you don’t like one single note that they’ve ever done. It’s rubbish, it’s nonsense. I’ve said this to him, so I’ll say it to you: nobody likes a do-gooder, nobody likes it. That’s why people like me, I’m a do-badder.”

Although Noel seems to stake a stab at Bono, he and Bono apparently have a close and honest friendship. Back in 2019 Noel said if he was ever faced with the unlikely event of having to dispose a dead body, he'd choose Bono to help him. He said “We could dispose of the body somewhere in Africa and nobody would know”. I can't tell if Noel was taking the piss.

Selling the Oasis back catalogue?

Noel Gallagher has said he wants to sell the Oasis back catalogue and he'll use the millions to live at sea on a super yacht. A common dream many people have. He could even right a whole new album with the hugely popular Yacht Rock genre.

If it does sell he could make over $350 million, as other artists of his stature have sold their back catalogue. Noel said on the podcast Funny How with Matt Morgan how Bob Dylan sold his back catalogue.

“All my come to me in 2025. You get an ­extraordinary amount of money and then they pop up in McDonald’s adverts for the rest of time. What do you do? Leave it to your kids? They don’t value music. Or do you take the £200 million ($A367 million) and buy the superyacht and the Learjet and go: ‘F***ing have it, come on.'"

He added “I think the latter. I’m getting a superyacht, I’m gonna call it Mega Mega White Thing. I’m gonna spend a year at sea. People can come and visit. I’ll be flying out my hairdresser, Neil, and paying £40,000 [$A735,000] for a haircut. I’ll have a chef.”

Yeah I can see his point. Sort of.

Noel Gallagher told Keith Richards that Liam Gallagher is ‘worse’ than Mick Jagger

Noel recalls when he spoke to Keith Richard, Noel recalled: “So I go up to the bar and there is Keith Richards, looking exactly as you would imagine, scarf and a hat, and his son is a friend of mine, Marlon, said ‘Dad’ and he suddenly turns around and says, ‘ah your still around are you'”.

He continued: “But he said a great thing, you’ll have to bleep it out but it is a brilliant line. His second line was, he said, ‘one thing I’ve always wanted to ask you, who is the bigger ****, your singer or mine?’ and I said ‘well, as your singer wrote some of the greatest lyrics of all time I’m going to say mine.”

“And he was like, ‘your band you were quite interesting there for a while’, and I was like ‘I could actually say the same to you'”.

Noel added: “But he was great and such a dude. It kinda reaffirms your faith in all your heroes when you meet Keith because he is the man.”

There's no surprise with the rivalry with Noel and Liam Gallagher and how Noel would take any chance to put shit on his brother. Noel also said “When we started Oasis we wanted to be a cross between The Pistols and The Beatles, we should have been called The Sex Beatles, I mean that would have been a great name wouldn’t it.”

I reckon "The Sex Beat" would have been better.
