Backstaged The Devil In Metal deep dives into metal

Diversion Podcasts have announced the launch of new podcast "Backstaged: The Devil In Metal". A deep drive into metal. The podcast features music journalist and bestselling author Jon Wiederhorn. The podcast runs for 12 episodes and tells the story, history and culture of heavy metal. It explores stories of darkness and extremism in the music. It explores how some rockers took the old phrase "Sex, Drugs and Rock n Roll" to a whole new level.

Jon Wiederhorn said “Everyone I’ve interviewed has been amazingly honest and revealing and there are so many great stories metal fans will love.” He continued “As the saying goes, the show exposes the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat in the way it offers fans a rare backstage view of the high and lows of metal legends and others that shaped this music over the past 50 years.”

The first two episodes are available now. Jon dives into the birth of devil metal, the artists that celebrate the occult/devil worshipping for shock value. He talks about artists that say they receive energy and power from the devil himself. It also reveals who the artist was who first used the iconic devil horns hand gesture.

Other episodes looking into stories about drug abuse, partying, groupies, homophobia, horror and the equipment that gives metal its sound.
