A coin commemorating 'Thin Lizzy' frontman Phil Lynott is being launched by the Central Bank of Ireland. There will be around 3,000 of the coins issued. Sold at the face value of  €15. It will be available to purchase from the Central Bank website.

President of Irleland Michael D Higgins will unveil the coin this Tuesday, 26 November at St Kevin’s College, Crumlin, Dublin, which was the school that Lynott attended.

Lynott sang and played bass in Thin Lizzy from 1969 up until his death in 1986. Phil Lynott increasingly suffered from drug-related issues, notably an addition to heroin. Before his death he had a final chart success with "Out in the Fields" and "Nineteen".

This year would have marked Lynott's 70th birthday, Happy Birthday, Phil Lynott!
