Eddie Van Halen honoured at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards

At this years Billboard Music Awards Eddie Van Halen honoured with a clip of Van Halen performing their well loved song "Panama" at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards, a single shot of Eddie Van Halen's iconic Frankenstrat guitar sitting alone in a spotlight followed.

The program was hosted by pop star - Kelly Clarkson. Kelly spoke of Eddie Van Halen "Just a few days ago, a true giant was taken from us: Eddie Van Halen. He was a legendary guitarist, an amazing musician and an incredible songwriter."

At 2015 Billboard Music Awards it was the first time that the most recent and sadly now the last line up Van Halen played, which was:

Eddie Van Halen – guitar, backing vocals
Alex Van Halen – drums

Other musicians have honoured the legendary guitarist, such as Jack White's performance on Saturday Night Live. Jack White played the guitar that was designed by Eddie Van Halen.

"I thought it could be a nice gesture for me to use this blue Eddie Van Halen model guitar for one of the songs tonight on SNL. The guitar was designed by Eddie (with a few customizations I had added),”

“Eddie was very kind to me and saw to it that this guitar was made for me to my specs. I wont even insult the man’s talent by trying to play one of his songs tonight. Thanks again Eddie for this guitar and rest in peace sir.” Jack White wrote on his Instagram page.

In other news David Crosby received some backlash after responding to a fan with "Meh" when a fan asked what he thought of the late Eddie Van Halen. Traciu Luk Guns guitarist of LA Guns responded with "Fuck this guy. Fuck this answer and most of all fuck this guy. I don’t give a shit what anyone says. That’s bullshit David." To which Dee Snyder of Twisted Sister responded with "Agreed. That said, I've always hated @thedavidcrosby AND his mustache. #JustSayin"

Eddie Van Halen passed away on October 6 at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California. His family was by his side.
