Dave Grohl has a new Instagram account that he launched this month called 'Dave's True Stories' and his latest one is a pearler. He's previously posted stories about him lighting fireworks in his backyard, playing Ozzfest for the first time and in his latest one he talks about how he jammed with the one and only - Prince!

He tells us that playing music with the purple one has been his dream his entire adult life and when it happened it was a real "surreal" moment for him.

Dave sets the scene  There I was, standing in a cold, curtained off dressing area, trying to desperately keep my cool This was not just another conversation in just another backstage room on just another Friday night…” and he adds “a proposition that I had wished for my entire adult life, but never in my wildest dreams imagined possible,” The invitation was given to Dave Grohl to jam with Prince and his band at soundcheck at The Forum in Los Angeles back in 2011.

Dave recalls waiting anxiously for the phone to ring to confirm the details to jam with Prince. Dave then tells us he's one of those people that their "phone battery is always hovering between 4 and 11 per cent". He then explains how that during that week he made sure his battery was at 100 per cent because there was "no fucking way" he was going to miss a phone call from Prince.

“But, let me tell you… for those 7 days, I didn’t let that motherfucker dip below 100% for one hot second. Ringer on 10. Vibrate on “stun”.

Finally the day came around and Dave remembers that Prince asked if he wanted “to play some drums” for him, and as he started out with a simple groove, “Prince watched, inspecting me with a grin.”

There was "not a soul in sight to witness" the performance with Dave Grohl and Prince. They played a
“symphony of rock/funk/gospel/psychedelia” then Prince began jamming along to one of Dave Grohl's favourite bands - Led Zeppelin.

Dave says “It fucking slammed,” And added “Fat, funky, big bottomed swing as he let loose solos that would make your teeth curl. My rock’n’roll fantasy was coming true, and I couldn’t fucking wait to share it with an arena packed full of die hard Prince fans like myself!”

He concludes  "I had fulfilled a life dream, with no evidence of it to share with anyone, other than a memory that will stay with me forever. I only saw Prince once after that. We just smiled and said hello. And when I heard he had passed, I sat in my car alone, crying, feeling both blessed to have shared these moments with him, and heartbroken that there would be no more. There will never be another like him. We were lucky to have him while we did. I miss him dearly.”
